Thought I’d do this for fun.
This year has been quite a special one for me in the world of anime and blogging. I don’t think I’ll ever feel like I’m not playing catch-up (even when I’m mercilessly dropping shows), so I’m thinking of stepping back and moving away from watching currently airing anime in the coming year.
Drill. Song. Robots. Manliness. Fighting spirit. More robots. Friendship. Rivalry. Love. Bigger robots. Bravery. Heroism. Hopes. Dreams. Hot-bloodedness. Drill. Song. Spiral power. Super robots. There is a lot of power in these ideas. Themes of hope, friendship, maturity, and evolution are very, very, very strong here. And the exorbitant visuals propel them forward, kicking reason to the curb, and going beyond the impossible!
2017 has been an eventful year for me in the world of anime. I don’t think I’m even scratching the surface with the shows I’ve listed here, compared to everything I’ve watched this year (even excluding the ones from 2017). But these are the ones that made the biggest impression on me.
Writing these sort of things is never easy. It means having to pick one moment above the rest in shows and movies that likely have a dozen I’d like to choose from. That’s why I get greedy and mention two or three, sometimes more. I have and always will be playing catch up, which makes it a lot harder for me revisit these just to be sure what moment, if I have one at all, is my favourite from each respective series.
